Our Beliefs
The Bible
We believe that every word in the original writings of the Old and New Testaments is fully inspired of God and without error, and that these writings are our final authority in all matters of faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20, 21; John 10:35)
God
We believe in the Holy Trinity consisting of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; three persons co-equal and co-eternal, the same in every divine perfection, but having distinct attributes. (Matthew 3:16, 17; II Corinthians 13:14; Deuteronomy 6:4)
Jesus Christ
We believe in God the Son, our only Saviour, full of grace and truth, by Whom all things were made, Who is the image of God, in Whom all fullness of the God-head dwells in bodily form. (Colossians 1:14-19,2:9;John 1:1-3, 14;Acts4:12) We believe in His Deity (John 1:1) We believe in the virgin birth of Jesus Christ (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18), humanity (Luke 2:7), sinless life (II Corinthians 5:2 1; I Peter 2:22; I John 3:5), substitutionary death (I Peter 2:24; Matthew 20:28), burial and bodily resurrection (I Corinthians 15:3,4), ascension (Acts 1:9), exaltation (Hebrews 1:13) and coming again (I Thessalonians 4:16, 17).
Creation
We believe in the Genesis account of creation , that the universe, life and man resulted from a direct, supernatural and spontaneous act of God. (Genesis 1)
Mankind
Man was created by a special act of God and in the image of God, thus he was in a state of innocence. As a free moral agent, he sinned against God being tempted of Satan, and fell from his place of innocence and thereby incurred the penalty of physical and spiritual death for himself and for the entire human race. The result is his alienation from God, his total sinful nature without any divine life, and as such, is under the judgement of God without hope apart from the new birth. (Genesis 2 and 3; John 3)
Salvation
Salvation for man is being rightly related to God through redemption. The basis is the vicarious death, shed blood and bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 26:28; Ephesians 1:17; Romans 3:24, 25; I Corinthians 15:1-4; I Peter 2:24). The conditions of salvation are repentance toward God (godly sorrow for sin and a desire to turn from sin) and faith (believing, trusting, receiving, depending upon) in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Luke 13:3; Acts 2:28, 3:19, 17:30, 16:31; Ephesians 2:8; Romans 4:5; Acts 13:39). The results are forgiveness of sin, justification (imputed righteousness of God to the believer), the gift of eternal life, eternal security with the result of a certain glorification of the body in the resurrection. (Ephesians 1:7; Revelation 1:5; Colossians 1:14; Romans 3:24,5:1,2,9; John 3:16; Romans 6:23; John 5:24, 6:37; Romans 8:38; I Corinthians 15:51-55)
The Church
The Church in this age is a local body of born-again, baptized believers, and that there is a church-in-prospect which will be assembled at the rapture. (1 Thess. 4:17)
The Future
We believe in the blessed hope of the imminent, pre-millennial return of Christ for His church in the event called the rapture, which will be followed by a seven year tribulation period (pre-tribulation rapture) on earth at the conclusion of which the Lord will return visibly to the earth with His saints to establish His thousand year millennial reign on the earth. The millennial reign is followed by the condemnation of the lost in an eternal lake of fire and the entrance of the saved into a conscious eternal blessedness in heaven. (1 Corinthians 15, 1 Thessalonians 4, Daniel 9, Revelation 19-21)
Baptist Distinctives
The following are distinctive doctrinal interpretations of our church to which we hold:
(1) The Bible is the sole source of authority for the Christian’s faith and practice in life - 2 Timothy 3:16. (2) Autonomy of the local church - Acts 6:1-7. (3) Priesthood of the individual believer - Timothy 2:5; I Peter 2:5.(4) Two ordinances; Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper - Matthew 28:19-20; I Cor. 13 11:23-32. (5) Individual soul liberty - I Cor. 8:1-13: I Peter 2:13-17. (6) Saved church membership - Acts 2:41. (7) Two church officers: pastor and deacon - I Timothy 3:1-7, I Timothy 3:8-13. (8) Separation of church and state - Luke 20:21-25.
